For your setup here in Bacolod, a completely tight-fitting lid or mesh cover is mandatory, as they can fly through the smallest gaps. They also prefer calm water with zero surface agitation—a gentle air-powered sponge filter is ideal. Because their mouths point upward to catch food floating on the surface, they will easily ignore food that sinks.
