Quick Overview

The Albino Butterfly Pleco (often known in the broader hobby as the Longfin Albino Bristlenose Pleco) is an absolute showstopper. Known for a genetic mutation that gives them a beautiful pale yellow-to-peach coloration and striking red eyes, this “Butterfly” variant has been selectively bred for exceptionally long, flowing fins that glide gracefully through the water. Like all Bristlenose species, they stay relatively small—maxing out around 4 to 5 inches—making them a much better algae-eating alternative to the giant Common Pleco for most home aquariums.

Tank Requirements & Local Care Tips

  • Care Level: Beginner

  • Minimum Tank Size: 30 Gallons

  • Water Temperature: 22°C to 28°C

  • Temperament: Peaceful (Excellent with community fish like Tetras, Rasboras, and peaceful Cichlids)

  • Bacolod Hobbyist Tip: Because of their delicate, sweeping fins, you must be careful with your aquarium hardscape. Avoid sharp, jagged rocks like raw Dragon Stone, which can easily tear their beautiful fins as they scavenge. Instead, use smooth river stones and real driftwood, which they absolutely require in their diet for proper digestion! Drop by our Bacolod store to select the perfect smooth Mopani or Spider Wood pieces, high-quality sinking algae wafers, and a healthy Albino Butterfly Pleco for your setup.
