Tank Requirements & Local Care Tips
-
Care Level: Beginner (Extremely resilient and forgiving of minor water parameter shifts)
-
Minimum Tank Size: 15 to 20 Gallons (As active, fast-paced horizontal swimmers, they thrive best in a “long” tank format; must be kept in schools of 6 or more)
-
Water Temperature: 22°C to 28°C (Perfectly adapted to standard tropical conditions)
-
Temperament: Peaceful and highly energetic (Excellent for community tanks with other active tetras, rasboras, and bottom-dwellers like Corydoras)
Bacolod Hobbyist Tip: Because Glass Bloodfin Tetras have largely transparent bodies, they can look almost invisible in a bare tank with a light-colored background. To truly make their glassy silhouettes and fiery red tails stand out, house them in a well-planted aquarium with a dark background and dark substrate (like black sand or aquasoil).
They are also excellent jumpers when startled, so a secure, tight-fitting aquarium lid is highly recommended! Drop by our Bacolod pet shop today to pick up premium high-protein micro-flakes, dark aquasoils, and a beautiful, tight-schooling group of Glass Bloodfin Tetras.
