They are one of the very few fish in the world that exhibit a true, vivid chartreuse-to-emerald green coloration. Standing at a tiny maximum size of just 0.75 to 1 inch, they feature an elegant, streamlined, semi-translucent body that catches the light like a swimming gemstone. Because they are highly social and tightly disciplined schoolers, they stay constantly in motion across the top and middle sections of the aquarium, creating a shimmering green ribbon effect.

Bacolod Hobbyist Tip: Because Green Neon Rasboras possess a highly reflective, iridescent green sheen, their color can easily wash out if they are kept in a bare tank with white sand or bright backgrounds.
To make their “radioactive” green glow look completely jaw-dropping, house them against a dark background, use a dark substrate like black aquasoil, and add plenty of lush live plants (such as Christmas Moss, Java Fern, or floating Frogbit). The contrast will make them stand out like neon signs!
Additionally, because they are micro-predators with incredibly tiny mouths, they cannot eat standard fish pellets. Make sure to feed them premium micro-sized foods like crushed flakes, specialized nano pellets, or live baby brine shrimp.
