Bacolod Hobbyist Tip: Rummynose Tetras possess an amazing biological quirk: they are excellent “living water quality testers.” If your aquarium water parameters are perfect and the fish are stress-free, their faces will glow with a brilliant, intense ruby-red. However, if your tank undergoes a spike in ammonia/nitrites, or if a sudden water change causes stress, their red faces will instantly fade to a pale, washed-out pink. This provides an excellent visual warning system for local hobbyists!
Unlike other tetras that loosely scatter across the tank, Rummynose Tetras are world-renowned for their unwavering, ultra-tight schooling behavior. They stick together like a single moving organism, marching back and forth across the middle of the aquarium.
