Quick Overview
The White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes) is a legendary classic in the aquarium hobby. Originally discovered in the mountain streams of China, these tiny, fast-moving fish are highly prized for their hardiness and vibrant colors. Featuring a dark lateral stripe, iridescent green-gold scales, and striking red-tipped fins, they are a fantastic, peaceful alternative to Neon Tetras. Because they naturally come from mountain streams, they are a temperate species that prefers cooler water over typical tropical setups.

Bacolod Hobbyist Tip: Because White Clouds are a sub-tropical species, they do not need an aquarium heater! In fact, the challenge in Bacolod’s tropical climate is keeping them cool enough. We highly recommend keeping their aquarium in an air-conditioned room, placing it away from windows, or installing a simple aquarium cooling fan to keep the temperature comfortable for them.
