To make them feel completely safe and encourage them to forage during the day, provide plenty of shaded areas using driftwood caves, smooth rocks, or broad-leafed plants like Anubias. Furthermore, ensure your substrate consists of soft, fine sand; rough gravel will wear down their delicate barbels, leading to painful infections.
