Quick Overview The Synodontis Pink Petricola Catfish is an extraordinary albino color morph of the highly coveted Synodontis petricola native to Lake Tanganyika in Africa. Stripped of its wild dark spots, this premium dwarf catfish boasts a luminous peach-pink body accented by crisp, solid-white leading edges on its dorsal and pectoral fins. Unlike larger, aggressive catfish, the Pink Petricola maxes out at a very manageable 3 to 4 inches. They are incredibly social, playful, and far less nocturnal than other catfish species, making them a true joy to watch as they swim upside down and dart through rockwork during daytime feeding.

Tank Requirements & Local Care Tips

  • Care Level: Beginner to Intermediate

  • Minimum Tank Size: 30 Gallons (Highly social and should be kept in groups of 3 to 5+ to encourage their active, confident behavior)

  • Water Temperature: 24°C to 28°C (Thrives perfectly in our local Bacolod tropical climate)

  • Temperament: Peaceful (Excellent dither and bottom-scavenger for African Cichlid tanks, larger rainbowfish, and robust community setups)

Bacolod Hobbyist Tip: Because the Synodontis Pink Petricola naturally hails from the African Rift Lakes, they absolutely thrive in hard, alkaline water with a high pH—which perfectly matches much of our local tap water here in Bacolod!

However, because they are bottom-dwellers that love to squeeze into tight spaces, rough or sharp gravel will easily tear their sensitive sensory barbels (whiskers). We highly recommend using soft, fine silica sand or smooth river pebbles as your substrate. Make sure to provide plenty of rocky caves or terracotta breeding cones so they can establish small territories.

Drop by our Bacolod pet shop today to pick up premium sinking carnivore pellets, smooth sand substrates, and a healthy, active group of rare Pink Petricola Catfish!
